A Creative Outlet They'll Look Forward to Every Week
Our weekly after-school art classes are designed for children aged 5–12 who love to make, explore, and express themselves. Led by qualified teachers Jess and Trish, each Tuesday session is a hands-on adventure through different mediums - painting, drawing, clay, textiles, and more. No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to get a little messy.

Program Structure
Each week brings a new project and a new medium to explore. Sessions are intentionally small, so every child gets personal attention from us. We follow the Victorian school term calendar, so classes run consistently through the year with natural breaks built in - no juggling extra schedules for families.
What’s Included
Everything your child needs is provided - all art materials, supplies, and equipment are included in the session price. Just send them along with a drink bottle and a snack beforehand, and we'll take care of the rest. Drop-off is encouraged, though parents are always welcome to stay.
Pricing
Classes are $27.50 per session, with the option to book the full term upfront. Sibling discounts are applied automatically at checkout. Full pricing and availability are updated each term in our booking portal.
Who It's For
Weekly classes are open to children aged 5-12 of all skill levels. Whether your child is a budding artist or has never picked up a paintbrush, they'll find their place here - everyone's welcome, and everyone leaves having made something.

Acrylics, watercolours, and mixed media - exploring colour, composition, and their own style

Jess
Founder, Artist & Educator
I love paint. There are so many variations of it, and anyone can have fun with it - that's what keeps pulling me back. I'm also a sucker for anything from the impressionist movement, all that colour and visible brushwork and light, and closer to home I love the work of Melbourne artist Mia Pensa. One of her animal paintings on our wall is the dream!
I properly fell for making my own work at about 25, when Mum and I started taking adult art classes together - even though she could easily have been running them. Learning the fundamentals again as an adult was such a joy. I've since taught art in a primary school classroom, and now here at Go Go Art, which I started because I wanted local kids to have a space of their own to make things in, without any pressure to be "good at art."
What I love most about teaching kids is their curiosity and the way they don't overthink it. They enjoy the process as much as the finished piece, and they never hold back. Outside the studio you'll find me outdoors with the family - the park, the beach, or out on the bikes - at a pilates class, or wandering the NGV, which never gets old.

Artist & Educator
Give me a pencil or a brush and I'm happy. I've never been able to pick a favourite - I love painting just as much as I love drawing, and illustration is where the two meet for me. I've always loved Alison Lester's work, the way her illustrations feel warm and familiar and completely Australian.
I taught art in primary schools for over 40 years, and I still can't stay away from a classroom. These days I lend a hand at Go Go Art, and I lead the drawing and cartooning classes whenever they're on. I also run a little art group for a few of my friends, which is just as much fun as it sounds.
What I love about teaching kids is how freely they work - no second-guessing, no worrying about whether it's "right," just ideas straight onto the page. Outside the studio I'm usually with my family, causing mischief with my grandchildren, or off travelling somewhere new.

Our classes are perfect for children aged 5 to 12 years old. We tailor activities to be enjoyable and suitable for this age range.

You are welcome to stay if you like but your child will always be in the care of our qualified school teachers and so a drop off is also encouraged.

Unfortunately not. Please give your child something to eat before class.

Not at all! These classes give an opportunity for every child to express their creativity through art and we love seeing how this evolves for each individual child.

If your child has any allergies, food or other, please let us know. We can ensure we tailor this appropriately and safely. Important: if your child is on any form of medication or management plan (ie - ASCIA Action Plans for Anaphylaxis), please have a conversation with us.

We recommend comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little messy. If your child has an art smock at home and would like to bring that, feel free, otherwise we will provide an art smock to use in the class.

Certainly! We strive to accommodate individual needs where possible. Please discuss your child’s specific needs with us in advance.

Absolutely. We warmly welcome NDIS participants, and we're happy to support families using NDIS funding to attend our classes. Just get in touch at hello@gogoart.au and we'll help work out the best way to make it happen for your child.
